We are going to engage Chamisa: Tshabangu

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has said it has resolved to engage Nelson Chamisa over the party’s leadership crisis following Chamisa’s shocking resignation from the opposition outfit.
Self-imposed interim CCC Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu in a statement said the party is going to engage Chamisa to cobble the way forward in the crisis ridden outfit.
Tshabangu in the interim people elected at the party’s 2019 Gweru congress are running affairs of the party, while mapping the way forward.
“Following President Chamisa’s statement, the Party leadership elected at the Gweru Congress convened an emergency meeting to consider both the contends of President Chamisa’s statement, and its immediate implications,” said Tshabangu soon after the party’s emergency meeting, “to consider the contents of President Chamisa’s statement and its immediate implications.”
Tshabangu added that until his resignation Chamisa’s leadership and the party’s presidency, “has never been in dispute or contestation,” following the Gweru congress.
Tshabangu said one of the resolution’s from CCC’s meeting was that “power and authority will collectively reside in the national leadership elected at the Gweru national Congress.”
He added an engagement with Chamisa was one of the discussion points.
“The leadership also resolved to lead a process to lead a process to engage President Chamisa in a deliberate and determined manner in an effort to resolve some issues raised by Advocate Nelson Chamisa in his statement,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tshabangu said in the aftermath of Amos Chibaya’s recall from parliament where the former Mkoba MP was leader of opposition, Karonye Kore has been appointed leader of opposition.
“It is important that all party deploys in various positions of responsibility must continue executing their mandate whilst the leadership seeks ways to resolve the current issues.
“The general membership of the party is also called upon to jealously guard and defend the unity and cohesion of the party, and to do that will enhance the standing of the party,” he said.
